He was instrumental in revising the Town's Wetland Bylaw and drafting the Commission's Wetlands Regulations, leading a 2018 update that made Arlington the first municipality in the Commonwealth to incorporate climate change resilience standards into local wetland regulations.
He has guided the review of complex development projects, successfully balancing community growth with rigorous wetland protection, including his work on the Thorndike Place 40B project and the Symmes Woods/Arlington 360 Conservation Restriction.
In 2019 he received the Conservation Commission and Town Manager's Awared for Excellence in regcognition of his exemplary leadership and vision as Chair of the Conservation Commission.
His legacy of environmental stewardship will allow future generations of Arlington residents to enjoy and appreciate the Town's natural resources for years to come.
We the members of the Select Board, do hereby commend Nathaniel Stevens for his 27 years of dedicated service to the Conservation Commission and the residents of Arlington, and extend our deepest gratitude for his wisdom, integrity, and enduring commitment to protecting the Town's natural resouces.
Be it further resolved that July 27, 2026 shall be proclaimed as Nathaniel Stevens Day in the Town of Arlington, in honor of his lasting contributions to the community.
